Our final day in the Bethania Community was hard fought but a tough one. We built our own bailer with a check valve to identify our water level and found it at ~180ft! With our casing down to 270 we have about 90 feet below to work with 👊. Before lunch we hooked up the pump and lowered it with the production pipe to our sweet spot.
Unfortunately we encountered some unforeseen issues with the pump and will have to wait a couple weeks for another one to get the well producing.
Despite the issue and having to walk away before having running water, this has been a great experience with the people of Bethania. Those present in the community put in the work to be involved in the drilling and casing process as well as providing food, water, beds, and good spirits. Most of Nicaragua is shut down to observe Holy Week before Easter. However, these people made their hands and hearts available for this project. Anxious and excited to see updates on the well in the upcoming weeks and getting a clean, sustainable water supply to this well deserving community.

Day four came to a close with a clean hole and a cased well down to 270 feet! All the prep work for the pump and plumbing is complete and we'll let that sit until the morning. We'll lower the pump to 260 and install the topside water works tomorrow and finally see how WELL we did. Today couldn't have gone any better and we couldn't have done it without our local crew. #itsWELLworthit #dropsofgrace #nicarAGUA #drillingfordrops #GlobalCHE
Day 3 in Bethania complete. After tripping out 285ft of pipe, we went right back in with a 5" bit to ream the hole out for casing. By sundown we had hit 285ft again and began to purge the well clean. Meanwhile members of the community rinsed the rocks we'll use for casing and cut water slots in the base of the casing pipe. Successful day means it's pizza night in Los Rincones. #itsWELLworthit #nicarAGUA #dropsofgrace #GlobalCHE #drillingfordrops
Day two in Bethania. We pushed it to the limit today, fighting daylight and a limited supply of mud water. The previous well we drilled in this community saw water at ~180ft but the well was not sustainable. We drilled to 185 by lunch time and an additional 100 feet by sundown for good measure! We are optimistic at 285ft we are through and beyond the water table and tomorrow we will ream the hole out for casing. Received a lot of help from members of the community today working on the rig and in the pits. We couldn't have a better team for the task at hand. #drillingfordrops #itsWELLworthit #dropsofgrace #GlobalCHE #nicarAGUA
Challenging but fantastic first day at Bethania! Located the drill site, set up the rig, dug the mud pits and water channels and started drilling by noon. Fought through some tough clay and rock but made it to ~90ft before sundown. Blessed to have great help from the local community and experienced drillers on our team from Global Che. Planning on a gusher tomorrow! #dropsofgrace #GlobalCHE #drillingfordrops #nicarAGUA
